Green Italy Exhibit opens at Logan Airport

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Nuvera is displaying the hydrogen powered Fiat Panda at Logan Airport’s Terminal E as part of the Green Italy exhibit.  The exhibit will run through December, and explores the growing collaborations between Italian and Massachusetts’ partners to support the global need for sustainable practices in our society and environment.

Hydrogen Car on Display at Logan Airport

Nuvera is happy to be part of this exhibit, showcasing both our Italian heritage (Nuvera was originally formed in 2001 by combining a fuel processor group from Cambridge, MA and a fuel cell group from Milan, Italy)  and our continued work in Italy via our Milan office.

If you are in the airport, stop by Terminal E and check out the exhibit.  The car is on the departures level and the rest of the exhibit is on the arrival level, just outside of customs.

Nuvera’s Former Office to be Greener, Literally!

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

In a fit of nostalgia over the weekend (and because the weather was beautiful on Sunday and I wanted to enjoy it outside), I went by Nuvera’s former headquarters in Cambridge, MA.  The office, which is adjacent to a nature conservatory (home to bird watchers and wild flowers), was under some serious construction!  Check out the picture:

It’s hard to tell in this picture, but the windows have all been taken out, and the entire entryway is being removed.  The rumor that I hear is that the building is being torn down to return the land to its original state - wetlands! We are honored that Nuvera’s move to Billerica will help contribute to more green space in Cambridge.

Conventions, Campaigns and Climate Change

Barack and McCain on Climate ChangeMuch like the rest of the nation, I have been glued to my TV set for the past few weeks, first following the DNC in Denver and then watching the Republicans in the Twin Cities.  Thank goodness my new roommate has working knowledge of the DVR function on our TV so I didn’t have to miss a moment!  In the midst of the media hoopla that always surrounds the conventions (Hillary’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsuits! Sarah Palin’s nomination!), I started to lose sight of what was important: the issues.

So here is the question:  How do our two perspective candidates stack up on the subject of alternative energy and fuel cells?

To find out, check out this dossier put together by Fuel Cells 2000, a non-profit [501(c)(3)] independent, educational organization that identifies and promotes environmental and energy technologies that can improve the human condition.  To better understand each candidates’ position, they’ve compiled recent statements, speeches and policy decisions pertaining to fuel cells and alternative energy.

I hear a similar document on the vice presidential candidates is in the works, so check back soon!

Thanks Bud.

Worcester Telegram talks Hydrogen

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

I sat down with Aaron Nicodemus from the Worcester Telegram and Gazette last week, where we talked fuel cells, hydrogen filling stations and getting a fleet of vehicles in Billerica.  To see the full article, click here.
