Greening Our Roadways
July 28th, 2009At Nuvera, we spend a lot of time focusing on more efficient modes of transport, whether it be on the road or in the warehouse.
A few companies are focusing on the road itself, coming up with greener ways to produce power along highways. From Oregon’s solar highway project to New Energy’s energy absorbing speed bumps, the project that piqued my interest the most was energy producing road barriers (or Jersey barriers as they are known in our neck of the woods). Mark Oberholzer has developed barriers that integrate wind turbines into standard road side barriers, to capture the wind generated by passing cars and convert it into usable electricity.
With these innovative thinkers putting their minds to the roads we drive on, and companies like Nuvera and our competitors rethinking the way we power our vehicles, we are moving in sync towards a greener more efficient future.
