Pimp My PowerEdge

January 21st, 2010

In preparation for our hectic upcoming trade show schedule (RILA, NA10 and NHA), we have launched a development project that Bill Harty in manufacturing is affectionately calling “Pimp My PowerEdge.”  As a display piece for customers at trade shows, we will be bringing a RL-25 PowerEdge fuel cell forklift unit with us, modified for easier shipping.  If you remember the MTV television program, “Pimp My Ride,” you know the basic premise was to upgrade viewers’ cars with sometimes outrageous additions (aquarium, anyone?).  For our PowerEdge display unit, we are modifying the fuel cell/battery hybrid system by removing the lead - not as flashy as a salt water aquarium, but a major change, nonetheless!  Our commercially-available units contain a sizable amount of lead to allow them to meet the strict counterbalance weight requirements of forklift trucks.

Check out the completed unit at one of the trade shows we will be attending in the next few months:

RILA Logistics Conference: Orlando, FL: 2/21/10

NA2010: Cleveland, OH: 4/26/10

NHA Conference and Expo: Long Beach, CA:  5/3/10
