PowerEdge Revealed

By Roberto Cordaro, President and CEO
Nuvera Fuel Cells

Greetings,

Today’s PowerEdge announcement is an important milestone for Nuvera. I wanted to thank our associates, suppliers and partners who made this possible. Between now and the scheduled shipments of PowerEdge this summer, I would like to share on the blog my perspective on our products and the market.

One fundamental feature of PowerEdge is the combination of a fuel cell and a battery pack as the hybrid power system. I call it the right balance of power when compared fuel cell/ultra-capacitors used by most competitors. Matching a relatively smaller fuel cell to the right sized battery resulted in a cost effective solution for the product mission.

This combination allows PowerEdge to deliver the most power output for 30 seconds than any other competitor. Nuvera believes 30 second power delivery – 25 kW in the 36V arrangements - is a critical measure for forklift trucks operating in high lifting environment, very important contributor to productivity.

In more cases than one an operator may run out of hydrogen in his tank. The amount of energy stored in the battery pack, unlike in the ultra-capacitor, is sufficient to take the truck to the refueling point.

Lastly, the battery pack is a very effective means to receive and store regenerative energy from the truck. For those applications with high regenerative power, PowerEdge has been equipped with a supplementary regen management module to assure high performance.

Thank you for taking the time to sharing your thoughts with us.

I would love to get your feedback.

Best,

Roberto

The Latest on Nuvera’s Hybrid Fuel Cell Product

In order to accelerate the introduction of commercial products to the marketplace, Nuvera announced last month that it will introduce its own line of hybrid fuel cell products for forklifts.  Nuvera will continue to supply fuel cell systems to East Penn Manufacturing for the Deka ReadyPower product.

It is exciting to see the growing interest in fuel cells from the material handling sector, and we look forward to providing solutions to the market as quickly as possible.
