Employee Resource Groups

 As part of Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc., Nuvera employees have access to multiple resource groups, including a women’s network, veteran’s group, and a ‘Green Team’ focused on sustainability and environmental justice. These resources present an opportunity for employees to foster a sense of community on the job and further promote inclusive and equitable practices in daily life – in and out of the workplace.

Community Service

Since establishing its headquarters in Billerica, Massachusetts, Nuvera has been engaged in local community projects and has served local disadvantaged populations through employee-driven charitable initiatives.

Nuvera employees have undertaken community service projects in Billerica such as road, park, and school clean-up and tree-planting projects. As a clean energy company dedicated to emissions reduction and decarbonization, principles of sustainability and environmental stewardship are at the forefront of Nuvera’s community engagement activities.

LEAD Program

Nuvera employees can participate in the Hyster-Yale LEAD program, a multi-phased development program to help women enhance their knowledge in ways to make a business impact, broaden their influence, and grow their career through targeted skill-building exercises, simulations, case studies, mentoring and networking.

Co-Op Program

Nuvera’s six-month multidiscipline co-op program provides students in the local region a deep dive into advanced clean transportation technology fields, and the option to pursue their individual interests and direct their own hands-on education.

The primary areas of focus of the co-op program are engineering disciplines including technology, manufacturing, environmental health and safety, quality, and systems engineering, finance, and marketing. Most participants are second- and third-year students.

The program has provided a pipeline to entry talent: Nuvera has hired 12 co-op students as full-time employees since 2014.

Co-op program participants have come from the following institutions:

  • Northeastern University
  • Wentworth Institute of Technology
  • The University of Tennessee
  • The University of Texas/Austin

In recognition of the depth and breadth of the experience provided by its co-op program, Nuvera won the Northeastern Co-Op Employer of the Year award in 2017.
